We were in Cedar Key and decided, on way back from Chiefland, to drive thru the Wildlife Refuge. First we went to the visitors center. CLOSED. ONLY OPEN 4 DAYS, NONE ON FRI - SUN. Then we took the 9 mile drive thru the refuge Saw 1 crow in 9 miles. Was, in my opinion, a total waste. Just a dirt road thru swamp. Don't bother ABOUT: The Wallisville Lake Project is a large area of protected wetlands, swamp forest, and bottomland hardwood forest created by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers for salinity control, navigation, water supply, recreation, and fish and wildlife enhancement.The protection of this land is of vital importance to birds.
